Meet Uncle Willy
This morning my new stitchy chair was delivered. Hallelujah!
The chairs we have in the livingroom are those weird, modern, newfangled and (supposed to be) ergonomic ones which are a pain to get comfortable in for a good stitching session. Anyway, last week I put my foot down and bought a nice (good old fashioned) comfy armchair to sit and stitch in. When we originally bought the livingroom furniture, the only furniture the Good Husband insisted on were the chairs, so there was no way I was going to say ‘no’. I think seven years of sitting on the chairs quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) cursing under my breath earned me a comfy chair! Of course, when I bought the new chair the Good Husband grabbed the opportunity to buy himself a comfy Laz-E-Boy type recliner/armchair…
Remember that I fell in love with a SaBF design called Uncle Willy a while ago? Well, here he is! He was such a fun stitch that I think I must get the others in the Snowkin series as well. Uncle Willy is stitched on blue hand-dyed opalescent fabby which thanks to the bad light, you most probably won’t be able to see.

At the moment I am in two minds stitching wise: should I start another stitchy project or should I rather take the time left of the year to get some of the finished pieces made up, framed, etc. (After all, next Friday we are leaving for the UK to celebrate Christmas with the family so there’s only a week left.) What started the dilemma is the fact that I couldn’t decide whether I should start on BC Snow, BaBF Buddies or SaBF Pals… See, it’s a small step from indecisiveness to a major dilemma!
As I type this my mum is on the plane heading for the UK. Only another week and I can see my mum!
Thanks for stopping by, and your comments are much appreciated!

An Ornament!
Thanks for all the comments and advice on the ’skew’ button on the Winter Peace snowman. The button does bother me and I desperately want to re-do it. However, the full impact of what I need to do to fix it only hit me when Sue mentioned the *f* word. Now, that silly button bothers me a lot less!
Now you need to hold on to your chair as you continue to read this post because I have another (finished) finish. Surprise, surprise – it’s a snowman. (You never would have guessed that, right?) It’s a little L*K called ‘Friends’ and it’s one of the 2006 ’12 Blessings of Christmas’ Flip-It’s. After seeing a lot of bloggers posting their gorgeous ornaments I thought that it was high time to stitch one too. It is stitched on opalescent fabby, but unfortunately you can’t see it on the pics. Without further ado I present to you my very first Christmas ornament!
Getting there…

Done!

Most probably you’re thinking: Hmmm, it’s just a stuffed pillow on a bit of cord! For me however, it’s a miracle!

Three Mice
No, not the blind ones. The Wise ones. Ringing a bell?
About two months ago I ordered a chart called Three Wise Mice by Fiddlestitch Cottage. I thought it was just too cute and a bit of a change from the normal Three Wise Men and all that. While I was out shopping yesterday with a friend, she pointed to little figurines and commented on how different they were from the normal Christmas decorations. Okay, to make a long story short – the little figurines turned out to be mice. The Three Wise Mice! What a coincidence! There were two sets left, and I bought both sets.
Even though it’s not really my style of decorations, I thought it would make a great little display having the stitched piece alongside the figurines.

My SaBF Snow Peace is finished and I’m quite happy with how it turned out. Although I must confess, the bottom button that is one stitch ‘off’ (as per the chart) really bothers me because the more I look at it the more it just looks like a mistake…

Jennifer over at Sweet Pea Stitches invited me to join the 2008 Bride’s Tree SAL. Seeing as the Good Husband and I have been married for nearly seven years and I never stitched a Wedding Sampler I think the Tree is a fantastic idea. Who knows, it might even inspire me to do the long overdue Wedding Sampler. (I’ve chosen to do the Bride’s Tree Ornaments by Something in Common for the SAL.) She set up a blog for it with the ‘how’ and ‘when’ and you can see it here. If you’re interested in joining, drop Jennifer an email. After all, the more the merrier!!
Today I managed to drop off more Christmas mail and decorate the house. (Hey, does that make me sound efficient or what?) This year we’ll be spending Christmas at my sister’s house so I’ve decided against putting up the big tree. For the first time in seven years, my mum will be spending Christmas with us so Christmas is a big deal this year. I haven’t seen my mum for more than a year so you can imagine how much I’m looking forward to Christmas. She will be spending two weeks in January with us here in Germany as well- oooh, exciting!!!
That’s it for now. Hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend!

Talk about depressing…
Am I relieved to be able to blog again! For the last couple of days I had terrible problems with the internet - no problems getting on, but staying on. After a fair share of frustration and investigating, I think that I found the problem. Keep your fingers crossed that the problem is indeed solved.
On Monday I was supposed to meet up with a stitcher from Louisiana. She and her husband took a river cruise and were here in Regensburg on Monday. We emailed one another and decided to meet up in the morning as they’d be leaving in the afternoon again. For some reason these things never work out and even though I waited a total of three and a half hours (!!) we have missed one another. Monday was such a miserable day to boot – wind howling and rain beating down.
To be honest I wasn’t upset that I had to wait so long (I HATE waiting), I was frustrated that I waited and we didn’t manage to meet up. I even had a little gift for her which (surprise surprise) managed to get soaked. Talk about a depressing day…
Work on Winter Peace is coming along slowly as I didn’t manage to get much done on it since my last post. Tomorrow I have the whole day to stitch so can hopefully do quite a bit on it.

How is everyone doing with their Christmas shopping and Chistmas cards? I’m a bit late this year with everything. I still need to buy some gifts for the family and still need to mail out the gifts for friends inside the EU. On Saturday we brought up all the Christmas decorations from the basement but they are still in their boxes. As you can see, nothing is happening fast around here.
